The problem of determining the star space density function from the fundamental equation of star-count analysis is examined. Shortcomings associated with the application of the equation are discussed, and a way to correct these shortcomings is proposed. The need to deal with incorrectly posed problems in solving the appropriate integral equations is emphasized.
