A description is given of nighttime experiments on the resonant laser sounding of barium clouds carried out in the framework of the Typhoon geophysical program in 1986. It was shown that the barium clouds had a relatively large optical thickness at the resonant transition (554 nm) of the barium atom in the cloud evolution phase studied (t - t sub 0 = 1-3 min).
