A method of approximate solution of optical pumping equations describing the Hanle effect in quiescent solar prominences is suggested. The method is based on the property of weak anisotropy of the exciting light. Polarization characteristics of the prominences' radiation depending on the value and direction of the magnetic field are calculated for the helium triplet transitions. The influence of the trapping of resonant radiation upon the polarization of an ensemble of radiating atoms is analysed.
