A method for the diagnostics of 15-min values of the azimuthal component of the interplanetary magnetic field is proposed. It is shown that, at those hours when the correlation between the By component of the IMF and the vertical component of the geomagnetic field is absent, it is possible to determine By according to variations in the horizontal components.
