Analysis of the variability timescale-bolometric luminosity relation for seven BL Lacertae objects shows that the inferred efficiency of conversion of accreted matter into energy is larger that 0.1. Their parameters, including the bulk relativistic Doppler factor delta, the mass M of the central black hole, and the dimensionless parameter lambda have been estimated. Evidence for relativistic beaming in these BL Lac objects is discussed.
