Sobolev's method is used to calculate profiles of the line H-alpha in the supernova II spectra in the late (200-500 days) stages after explosion. Comparison with the observed H-alpha profiles in the spectrum of SN 1987A yields the electron temperature and concentration in the shell, which are then used to calculate the profiles of Ca II lines. The theoretical calcium line profiles are not in an agreement with observations, mainly because of the strong ionisation of calcium ion from the second level by diffusion L-alpha radiation in the envelope. This suggests that the hydrogen and calcium lines are formed in different parts of the shell, where the physical conditions are different.
