Open Clusters, Stellar Motions, Maximum Likelihood Estimates

Using the relative proper motions of 1,067 stars in the region of the open cluster M67, the membership probability for each star was calculated by a maximum liklihood method. Three-hundred-seventy-five stars were found to have probabilities greater than 0.65 and these were taken to be members. A discriminating analysis gave 412 members. A comparison with Sanders' (1976) calculation is made.
