Fried's seeing parameter is computed from the observed rms contrast of solar granulation on the basis of results obtained from solar speckle interferometry. The effect of telescope diameter on solar observations is shown, and predictions of observed contrast in solar granulation are made as a function of wavelength. Attention is given to the optimum telescope size to be used for given turbulence conditions, and to the importance of seeing conditions.
