Abundances of the elements participating in the C, N, O cycle are
derived from near-infrared spectra of beta Lyr. The material in the
atmosphere of the bright component has undergone hydrogen burning via
this cycle. Estimates are obtained for the present as well as the
initial mass of the bright component in this binary system.
