Chandler Wobble

Scientific paper

This paper firstly demonstrates that the Earth's dynamic three-axial ellipsoid has only a small effect on the elliptic movement of the Chandler wobble (CW), whose ellipticity is 1.8E-5 and may be neglected. The author has proved that the CW is an elliptic movement with an ellipticity of 0.013 and the direction of the long axis is at 6°E. By using the deconvolution method in Fourier analysis, the parameters of long trend and annual polar motions and CW for every year are determined. In order to reduce the CW parameters to one and the same epoch, the ellipticity of CW is taken to be 0.011 and the direction of long axis lies along 9°E, and these agree very well with theoretical results.
