Scientific paper

Observations of solar neutrons by ground-based neutron monitors are reviewed, focusing on five solar neutron events between 1980 and 1984. The events are analyzed and compared with the time profiles of gamma-rays observed by the gamma-ray spectrometer on the Solar Maximum Mission satellite. The energy range of solar neutrons observed by the neutron monitors is estimated for each event.
