A preliminary investigation is presented of the rapid variations discovered in a few consecutive high S/N spectra of photospheric lines of the Be star Theta CrB. Due to the small number of line profiles, it was impossible to investigate whether nonradial pulsations are responsible for this variability. Adopting the Roche-model approximation of the stellar surface, it is concluded that the star spot model cannot be excluded. It is also shown that the binary hypothesis with P = 511d concerning Theta CrB is not consistent with the present CCD and classical observations from 1976 to 1988.
