TW Hya is a classical T Tauri star with strong hydrogen emission. It shows photometric variability and has a V band magnitude of ˜11. Evidence suggesting TW Hya has a disk includes an ultraviolet and near-infrared excess, a far-infrared and submilimeter continuum, and rotationally excited CO emission. Recently, the disk around TW Hya has been imaged at visible, near-infrared, and millimeter wavelengths to reveal an optically thick disk that extends to > 200 AU. It appears TW Hya has a nearly face-on dusty molecular disk.
In this paper we present the results of high-resolution near-infrared spectral observations of the v = 1-0 ro-vibrational band of CO near 4.7 microns. The spectra of TW Hydrae were taken with NIRSPEC at the W. M. Keck Observatory. The CO line analysis provides the rotational temperature, column density and implications for the location of the gas. Possible indications of column density variations are also discussed.
