We report on an IR observation of the central region of M 87. In addition to the jet our K' exposure shows IR. - counterparts to the brightness maxima of the western and eastern radio lobes. The spectral index of the eastern lobe between 2cm and the K' band of -0.85+/-0.01(Snu_{prop.to}νalpha^) is consistent with the spectral steepness α=-0.84+/-0.07 of the integrated lobe emission measured between 5GHz and 230GHz. A further filament has possibly been detected near the southern limb of the eastern lobe.
