We have developed a procedure to detect intracluster light in the center of rich clusters of galaxies. The detection and photometry of the diffuse component in a given field is performed after the removal of all objects in that field (stars and galaxies). The fitting and removal procedures are described in detail. We have applied this method to Abell 2390 and Cl 1613+31 using Bgr photometry. In Abell 2390, the intracluster light could be produced by galaxies farther than the completeness limit in magnitude, and there is some excess of light probably caused by the halo of the central cD galaxy. In Cl 1613+31, the diffuse component exceeds the light expected from the faint cluster galaxies in g and r, and there is no detection in B. The photometry of these diffuse stellar components is studied and discussed.
