Observed brightness values for three double stars at 1640 A are considerably greater than expected, which can only be attributed only to the presence of hot components that are weak in the visible spectrum. In the case of the double stars HD 33646 and HD 37904 these weak components are almost certainly hot subdwarfs. The third, HD 158369 may have a component that is of greater absolute magnitude, a main sequence star or even a giant.
