Methods for the detection of giant muon families with muon energies of 220 GeV and greater are discussed, and results of an analysis of muon detection data are presented. A muon detection method is described which makes it possible to obtain chemical composition data for primary energies of 10 exp 17 eV and above, which supplement EAS data in this energy range.
