The influence of the earth's atmosphere on the search for global solar oscillations with a period of 160m is studied. It is shown that neither the amplitude nor the phase behavior of the oscillations persisting during the last five years (1974-1978) can be explained in terms of the terrestrial atmospheric influences or by the statistical method of treatment. The observational evidence strongly suggests that the 160m periodicity is of solar origin.
