The 13C substitutions of molecule HC7N were observed in TMC-1 using the J 12 → 11, 13 → 12 rotational transitions in the frequency range 12.4 to 13.6 GHz. We detect the 13C isotopic species in the average of a number of weak rotational transitions. We describe a search for large cyanopolyyene molecules in TMC-1 using the 100m Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT). The capabilities of the GBT 11 to 15 GHz observing system are described along with a discussion of numerical methods for averaging observations of a number of weak spectral lines to detect new interstellar molecules.
Based on the observation of TMC-GB we find the abundance ratio 13C /C is 1/87 with 1σ range 1/122 to 1/68. Based on the observation of TMC-HC9 N the abundance ratio 13C /C is 1/132 with 1σ range 1/176 to 1/106. Averaging the measurements from the two positions yields abundance 13C/C is 1/108 with 1σ range 1/136 to 1/90.
