We have derived new abundances of the rare-earth elements Pr, Dy, Tm, Yb, and Lu for the solar photosphere and for five very metal-poor, neutron-capture r-process-rich giant stars. With this study we complete our laboratory-solar-stellar analyses of the rare earth Z=56-72 element domain. Our newly-determined solar photospheric abundances for all rare earths are in excellent agreement with solar-system meteoritic values. We have made detailed comparisons between the rare earth abundances in the neutron-capture-rich low metallicity stars and those in the solar system, specifically comparing the stellar distributions of these very old Galactic stars with the solar r-process only abundances. Such comparisons provide important clues about the nature and types of the earliest Galactic nucleosynthesis and insight into the nature of first generations of Galactic stars.
