We present the results of our weeklong study of sending a New Frontiers-class mission to a Jupiter Trojan asteroid and to a trans-Neptunian object. Our design calls for a seven-year mission, including a flyby of main belt asteroid (108144) 2001 HM1, a flyby and impactor release (à la Deep Impact) at Jupiter Trojan (624) Hector (a suspected contact binary), and a flyby of the Centaur 39P/Oterma (and flythrough of Oterma's coma). In our study mission, we intend to answer questions about the origins, physical properties, and compositions of Trojans and Centaurs and how the color, structure, and evolution of these objects compare to those of comets. Are the various properties of our target bodies consistent with proposed formation scenarios, such as the Nice Model? We will discuss instrument selection, launch and flyby timetables, planned measurements, impactor design, data acquisition, and our mission's science goals.
