This paper presents the design and performance of a MicroNewton Proportional Thruster (MPT), capable of producing thrust in the range from the leakage level, equivalent to 60nN, up to 1mN. Polyflex Space is currently under contract to ESA to continue the development of the MPT in a programme which covers environmental verification and performance characterisation tests prior to formal qualification. The development programme was originally initiated under ESA sponsorship in 2000, to which Polyflex have made a significant and continuing contribution. Possible future opportunities for the thruster include Lisa - Pathfinder and the Lisa &Darwin missions.
