The design, manufacture, and functional testing of a prototype starmapper attitude determination sensor for spinning spacecraft is reported. Optical, mechanical, and electronic designs are described, and experience and performance concerning parts and subassembly manufacturing are outlined. Test results of sensor performance and characteristics are presented, and recommendations are given for type qualification and further development.
