Accretion: Shock Waves
Scientific paper
Almost all the authors who studied shocks in accretion flows adopted one of the two kinds of approximations to the flow: adiabatic or isothermal. They usually adopted different shock conditions in the two cases. The calculation results of shock properties, such as the shock location and the shock strength, are greatly different in the two cases. In the present paper, the authors analyze the reason of the differences and show the respective effects of the assumption to the flow and of the shock condition upon the results.
