The relationship between the large-scale structure of recurrent high-speed solar wind streams (as observed by Prognoz-9 during 1983 and 1984) and the large-scale structure of the heliospheric current sheet (HCS) is investigated. The dependence of the solar wind velocity V on the angular distance lambda to the HCS is analyzed. Based on the Prognoz-9 measurements, the V (lambda) relationship is approximated as V (km/s) equals 410 plus 305 sin squared lambda.
