In the present resolution of the discrepancy between the 10-percent value of Sandage and Fouts (1987) and the 2-percent value of Gilmore and Reid (1983) for the normalization of the thick disk of the Galaxy relative to the thin disk, it is demonstrated that the former work's density laws, in combination with that 10-percent normalization figure, are inconsistent with star count data from the Hazard 8-Hour Field. It is also shown that a local thick disk normalization of 10 percent is compatible with Gilmore and Reid's exponential density law normalization of 2 percent.
