The paper presents a theoretical sdtudy of an aspect of the injection of particles into the ionosphere. Specifically, the space-time distribution of the density of injected particles based on solutions of hyperbolic equations is compared with the distribution determined by solving the conventionally used parabolic equation. It is shown that properties of the distribution can be determined using the hyperbolic-equation approach which cannot be determined using the parabolic equation.
