We propose to conduct a deep molecular line survey toward a large sample of dense starless cores. We intend to expand on our previous Mopra observations of the N2H+, HNC, HCO+, HCN, H13CO+, and H13CN (1-0) transitions toward cores within the Pipe Nebula. Our previous observations of a small sample of the most massive cores reveal that several HCO+ spectra show self-reversal profiles indicative of infall and outflow motions. Moreover, we find that cores with similar properties (e.g. mass, radius, density, stability, etc) show very different molecular line emission. We speculate that these chemical difference may be related to their relative evolutionary ages. We now propose to observe the remaining 100 cores that cover the complete mass range (from 0.2 to 20 Msun) within this extremely young cloud. These data, combined with our infrared, C18O and NH3 surveys, will significantly advance our understanding of the nature of dense cores.
