Our group has undertaken a multi-wavelength study of the starburst galaxy NGC 7714. The ultimate goal of this project is to test how well evolutionary synthesis starburst models can simultaneously account for the characteristics of a starburst from the space-UV to the infrared. As part of our study, we report here the results from two spectra of NGC 7714. The first is a high S/N UV spectrum of the nucleus, covering 1200-1700 Angstroms, taken with the GHRS on the Hubble Space Telescope. This spectrum shows the OB star continuum with stellar and interstellar features (C IV, Si IV, and N V absorption, and weak Lyalpha emission). The second is a high S/N ( ~ 100), moderate-resolution (R ~ 1300 FWHM), long-slit K-band spectrum of NGC 7714. These data were obtained using the CGS4 spectrometer on the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope. The common emission lines (Brgamma , He I, H_2) are detected, as is deep CO absorption from late-type stars. Continuum is detected over almost 40'' along the slit, and emission lines are detected from the nucleus and an off-nuclear star-forming region. We present results from applying starburst models to the UV and IR spectra.
