We propose to extend our ongoing efforts to understand the internal dynamics of globular clusters by observing a primordial population of binaries in M4. Our recent work has shown that the active main-sequence binaries in this cluster are largely primordial, rather than dynamically formed (as the low mass X-ray binaries and cataclysmic variables are). A deep Chandra observation will uncover ~90% of this population. This will constitute the first nearly complete and well-defined sample of primordial binaries in a globular cluster.
