The dynamics of disturbances in the evening sector of the magnetosphere connected with the excitation of decreasing-period (DP) pulsations is analyzed on the basis of data from Finnish riometer observatories and Soviet magnetometer observatories. Explosive bays, DP pulsations, and riometer absorption are found to take place within 1-1.5 deg of one another. The sequence of events connected with the excitation of DP pulsations is described.
