We investigate the mid-IR (5-38 um) properties of Seyfert nuclei using archival Spitzer/IRS spectra. Seyfert mid-IR spectra show a large range in continuum shapes and the contributions from the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) bands. The spectra also show a number of low- and high-ionization forbidden emission lines. While the PAH contribution is expected to come from the star-forming regions within the host galaxy, and the high-ionization emission lines from the narrow-line region of the AGN outflow, the intrinsic continuum due to the dust heated by the active nucleus itself can not be studied effectively. Especially, the silicate dust features are blended with PAH complexes, hence de-blending these features is necessary. Further, it has been shown that deep silicate absorption features are seen mostly in highly inclined galaxies or in systems with disturbed inner dust morphologies. By de-blending the varied features in the mid-IR spectrum via spectral fitting of individual features, we attempt to extract the intrinsic contribution from the dust heated by the AGN continuum.
