In the present paper, the 3D modeling of a multiple segmented reflector telescope is discussed. Finite element techniques are applied. Guyan reduction is utilized to simplify the design of the composite system. To accomplish vibration suppression and precision pointing, the structure is decomposed into six subsystems. System control design is performed using pole placement techniques. The performance evaluation of the subsystems as well as the overall structure is demonstrated via computer simulation using PRO-MATLAB and IMOS. The stability of the structure is studied in the Lyapunov sense. Stability results are derived using the stability properties of the isolated subsystems and their interconnection patterns.
