Pi1C pulsations were detected in the daytime southern polar cap when the Bz component was much greater than 0. Their appearance is shown to be due to a specific combination of the azimuthal and radial components of the IMF, where By is less than 0 and Bx is greater than 0. The daytime Pi1C pulsations in the daytime polar cap are shown to be closely correlated with the NBZ system of field-aligned currents, which makes it possible to use observations of such pulsations when Bz is much greater than 0 for the diagnostics of field-aligned currents in the polar cap.
