The paper examines aspects of the use of radio measurements in a system consisting of the descent vehicle (DV) and the ground tracking station to control a DV with a low lift-to-drag ratio after establishment of communication with the earth. An adaptive filtering algorithm using the direct Liapunov method is synthesized for determining errors of the dynamic-system model. The algorithm is shown to be effective for estimating the descent trajectory parameters in the atmosphere.
