We describe the results of a large catalog data-mining project whose goal is to identify favorable stars for potential SETI-like searches, and for potential extra-solar planet searches. We apply a variety of constraints to mine the USNO-B catalog of over one billion objects in order to generate a reduced ``best candidates'' list of a few hundred stars. We summarize our assumptions, our approach, and our data mining results.
