This prospective instrument is devoted to make a breakthrough in the high-energy gamma-ray astronomy, increasing the number of known discrete sources by two orders of magnitude. A substantial gain in exposure is achieved by expanding the telescope field of view up to 0.6 of the whole sky. Cylindrical geometry makes it possible to observe the whole Galactic plane all the time at a high-apogee orbit. Results of Monte Carlo simulations are presented. For 1 year of observation CYGAM provides localization with an accuracy better than few arcminutes of all sources in the Galaxy with a flux exceeding 10-9 cm-2 s-1 above 1 GeV.
