Kinematic aspects of cyclotron emission in superstrong magnetic fields
are reviewed to suggest characteristic features which might be useful in
confirming the nature of the reported line feature near 50 keV in the
spectrum of Her X-1. The role of the inverse process of cyclotron
absorption is also discussed.
