Data on coronal observations obtained at Pic-du-Midi Observatory over three solar cycles of monochromatic measurements and one cycle of K-corona studies are used for a study of the variation through the solar cycle of the main physical parameters which govern the lower corona. The average density and the hydrostatic temperature are deduced from K-corona measurements. Then, from a hypothesis about the distribution of temperatures along the line of sight in an average corona, the monochromatic intensities which should be observed in the lambda 5303 and lambda 6374 A lines if the corona were homogeneous are computed.
