Photographs of Venus taken through a calcite crystal at five wavelengths in 1980 have been measured to study the polarization characteristics of the ultraviolet cloud markings. These formations show an inverse correlation between intensity and percentage polarization p. The fluctuations in p are cyclic: averaged over all the wavelength bands, the period is 4.55 + or - 0.05 days.
