A statistical equilibrium model is used to analyze cyanoacetylene transitions in the Sgr A molecular clouds, in order to derive their H2 density. For the case of a homogeneous model with an assumed temperature of 80 K, a density of 1000/cu cm is obtained for the 20 and 50 km/sec clouds. A better fit to the data is obtainable in a model where 20 percent of the mass is in the form of high density (10,000/cu cm) clumps. These results suggest that the Sgr A molecular clouds, if stable against tidal disruption, are at least 75 pc from the galactic nucleus and do not directly interact with the region surrounding Sgr A West.
