Curves of growth of emission lines are calculated for both parent and secondary species of comets assuming a Haser model distribution. Variations of these curves when varying input parameters is discussed. The technique developed is applied to the measurements of H2O 2.7 and 1.38 μm bands by the Vega spacecraft and to OH 3090 Å band measurements by IUE. The evaluation of 1030s-1 for the H2O total production rate on 1986 March 9 is obtained by this technique.
