Curvature radiation is reexamined in the framework of basic electrodynamics, with a view to its application to pulsars via calculations of the spectrum of polarized emissions from charged particles moving along a curved trajectory. Elementary curvature emissions are then associated with subpulses; it is shown that the curvature emission beam is wider than has generally been understood. Circular polarization is shown to be high, and reverses sign at the pulse's center. It is also shown that a double pulse profile can be expected in the low-frequency part of the spectrum.
