A thick-target yield technique has been used to determine cross sections for the 26Mg(p, n)26Al reaction from threshold to Ep = 7.0 MeV. Using these cross sections for proton energies below the 26Alm threshold and the principle of detailed balance, cross sections for the 26Alg.s.(n, p0)26MGg.s reaction have been calculated. The significance of these cross sections for the nucleosynthesis of 26Al is discussed.
