A cross-correlation analysis between galaxies of different luminosities in the CfA survey has been made. The results show that the cross-correlation can be approximated by a power law, which indicates that galaxies with different luminosities are mixed in their distribution and clustering. On smaller scales (4-6 Mpc) galaxies with higher luminosities are strongly correlated to one another; as the scale increases, this cross correlation decreases rapidly. This means that the more luminous galaxies form more compact clusters and groups than do the less luminous ones; thus, the luminosity of galaxies is related to the environment. This is a support for the idea of biased galaxy formations.
