A newly discovered optical synchrotron jet in 3C264 offers a unique opportunity to map the polarization and spectral index along the length of the jet. Since only 5 optical synchrotron jets are known, detailed studies of the known jets are important to begin to understand this complex phenomenon. Indeed, the crucial questions for understanding the jet phenomenon remain unanswered. For example, are jets radiation beam or particle beams? Are the radiating electrons accelerated locally where we see them in the optical, or are they tranported loss-free from the nucleus? What is the confinement mechanism? Polarization measurements are proposed to confirm the strong circumstantial evidence for the synchrotron emission from the jet. Spectral index measurements along the length of the jet will reveal details of the energy transport if the jet fits the standard scenarios.
