We present detailed, but conceptually simple models of the interactions between orbital, rotational and viscoelastic dynamics for the Galilean satellites. The three-dimensional orbital model includes perturbations due to Jupiter's shape, the Sun and Saturn, along with the gravitational attractions among the satellites. The latter are assumed to be deformable and modeled as multilayered viscoelastic bodies. The equations of orbital and rotational motions are coupled to each other and also to the time-dependent gravity fields of the satellites. The viscoelastic models are formulated in frames which represent the average rotational-precessional motions of each satellite. The actual rotational dynamics also allows for time-dependent moments of inertia. Since the shortest dynamical time scale is orbital, the equations can be integrated efficiently with splitting schemes.
