The experimental quasielastic excitation function has been measured at θlab = 161° for the 16O+64Zn system and its correspondent quasielastic barrier distributions has been derived. These data were taken at energies near and below the Coulomb barrier. We compared these data with theoretical predictions from coupled channel calculations. Besides, other experimental data available in the literature, for elastic and inelastic scattering and fusion of the same system, were also compared with theoretical calculations. The analysis shows that there is a strong coupling channel effect due to the quadrupole and octupole vibrations of the 64Zn target, which affects all reaction channels.
