Tests conducted with the IR telescope on Salyut 4 are described. The telescope-spectrometer included a mirror telescope, coupled to a spectrometer, and a radiation detector cooled by a special cryostat. The information obtained using the IR telescope was registered in the form of a spectrum. In this range spectrography and spectroscopy were the most informative methods for studying the structure and composition of matter in space. The radiation of the moon and earth were registered. Objects present in the galactic plane and in the constellation Cassiopeia were investigated. Solar observations were conducted and the tracking mechanism was successful.
