As established standard candles, Type Ia supernovae are extremely important in today's experimental cosmology. The current methods of extracting cosmological parameters from supernova data rely on two key assumptions: first, that only type Ia supernova are used; and second, that the redshifts of the candidates are relatively well-known. Supernovae candidates can easily be classified as Ia's using spectral analysis. However, planned future cosmological probes that will collect very large samples of supernovae might not have the resources to perform a spectral analysis on a dataset of this magnitude. Therefore, the majority of the supernova candidates will not have a spectroscopic confirmation of their species, making it necessary to rely on photometric measurements to identify the candidates’ types. Along the same lines as classification, the determination of the candidates’ redshifts may have to be done with photometric data only, which typically results in a large (10-20%) error. We explore the feasibility of extracting cosmological information from a photometry-only dataset with uncertain supernova types and large redshift errors.
